Welcome back to my Pulp Action Hour series! Most of my previous entries were more fluff and background fluff. I now begin to present to you, dear readers, more of the crunchy specifics. This is part one of a two part series on the more advanced aircraft in the Pulp Action Hour setting
The planes of WWII found in the SWADE core book are all still the most common aircraft found in the setting. The only change is that the military craft and a few civilian craft of the ultra wealthy are powered by aether crystals rather than fossil fuels
One thing I wanted to make sure to include are bombs and rockets, since neither are included in SWADE core. Bombs were common aerial weapons during WWII. Rockets however are a bit different. Thanks to advances technology and the aether crystals, primitive fly by wire and heat seeking guidance systems have been developed.
Vehicle Weapons of Pulp Action Hour!

Light Bomb | — | 5D8 MBT | 24 | — | 2k |
Heavy Bomb | — | 9D10 LBT | 34 | — | 8k |
Light Rocket | 150/300/600 | 4D8 | 20 | — | 3k |
Medium Rocket | 200/400/800 | 4D10 | 24 | — | 7k |
Heavy Rocket | 250/500/1000 | 6D10 | 28 | — | 10k |
Bombs: These are dropped from planes and flying platforms. If trying to hit a specific target with the bomb, such as a small building or stationary tank, the pilot needs to make a shooting roll at a -1 to hit.
Rockets: These can have two types of guidance systems. The first is a fly by wire using a aether crystal powered communications array. The pilot makes a shooting roll to hit with them. He gains a +1 to hit when firing a fly by wire, but suffers a -1 to pilot rolls due to the distraction of guiding the rocket.
These can also be installed with heat seeking guidance systems. The pilot makes a shooting roll to get a heat lock and fires
Note on Space Capable Aircraft Speeds:
The speed of a craft in space is twenty times faster than in the atmosphere. So a plane with a speed of 500 in atmosphere would have a speed of 20,000 in space.
Advanced Airplanes
The following are the more advanced airplanes available to each of the various powers in the world.
US Interceptor: This is the mainstay of the US air force. It has a single turbo-prop engine and can mount two rockets or bombs in addition to the traditional forward facing gun mounts. It has room for only one person. This is a small, maneuverable craft. Looks like a slightly more advanced WWII fighter plane.

Weapons: 2 linked Hvy MG
German Terrorgeist: The Terror Ghost is similar to the US Condor, though it is not as maneuverable, sacrificing agility for additional ordinance, storing bombs in its belly and rockets on its wings.
Size: 6(large), Handling: -1, Top Spd: 420, Tough: 15(3), Crew: 2, Cost: 80k
Weapons: 2 linked hvy MG, 8 bombs & 4 rockets on the wings
German Jäger-Vogel: The Hunter Bird is the German counterpart to the Interceptor. The two are surprisingly almost identical in design. Each were introduced almost simultaneously, leading many to wonder, who copied off who.
Size: 6(large), Handling: +1, Top Spd: 460, Tough: 13(3), Crew: 1, Cost: 65k
Weapons: 4 linked Med MG, 2 bombs or rockets on wings
UK Hornet: The Hornet is a small, very maneuverable one man fighter with a single turboprop engine. It is only armed with Air to Air guns and is meant for air defense and superiority.
Size: 6(large), Handling: +1, Top Spd: 460, Tough: 12(3), Crew: 1, Cost: 65k
Weapons: 4 linked Med MG
UK Hydro-Hornet: This is a highly specialized version of the hornet, capable of landing on water or land, making it more versatile.
Size: 6(large), Handling:+1, Top Spd: 435, Tough: 12(3), Crew: 1, Cost: 70k
Weapons: 4 linked Med MG
UK Intra Atmosphere Dogfighter: Looking similar to the Hornet, this craft is larger and uses a combination of jet propulsion and booster rockets rather than a turboprop engine. Designed with a pilot and copilot in mind, it is air tight and equipped to last 48 hours in space, long enough to rendezvous with a carrier ship in space or make the trip to the moon.
Size: 7(large), Handling: 0, Top Spd: 520, Tough: 14(3), Crew: 2, Cost: 110k
Weapons: 4 linked Med MG
Russian Komisar Defenser: This one man plane is as small as the Hornet, though not as maneuverable. It is armed with guns and one bomb.
Size: 6(large), Handling: 0, Top Spd: 445, Tough: 13(3), Crew: 1, Cost: 60k
Weapons: 4 linked Hvy MG
Russian Petrovik Nektanikar: This is the largest of the fighter planes made by any faction. It has a three man crew, is powered by three turbo-prop engines and is armed with a forward and rear facing gun mounts as well as a large bomb bay and wing mounted rockets. .
Size: 8(large), Handling: -1, Top Spd: 390, Tough: 16(4), Crew: 3, Cost: 90k

Weapons: 2 linked Hvy MG
Japanese Kamikaze Kraft: Similar to the Zero Elite, it has a larger fuel capacity and contains about fifty pounds of high explosive within its fuselage. This is used to make the craft more destructive on kamikaze runs. These are designed to look just like Zero Elites to make telling them apart harder.
Size: 6(large), Handling: +1, Top Spd: 435, Tough: 1(3), Crew: 1, Cost: 65k
Weapons: 2 linked Hvy MG, explosives in fuselage. If an attack hits with 2 raises, the explosives are hit, destroying the craft.

Sky Brigade Phantom: This is a stealth version of the crusader; sacrificing much of its ordinance space for a new type of shield developed by Sky Brigade that makes it invisible to radar and more difficult to spot visually. The craft has room for only two wing mounted bombs rather than the six bay stowed bombs the other sky brigade craft can hold.
Size: 7(large), Handling: +1, Top Spd: 480, Tough: 14(3), Crew: 2, Cost: 115k
Weapons: 4 linked Med MG, 2 wing mounted rockets
Note: Stealthy, when stealth system is active, all notice checks to spot the Phantom visually or on radar is made at -4.
Next time, we look at the larger than life flying platforms. These include flying aircraft carriers, escorts and destroyers.
Until then, please let me know what you think! Is there anything you see that could be changed? Something I may have left out?
Cheers!
