Savage Cryptids of North America: The Partridge Creek Beast!

This large carnivore hunts in the Yukon Territory of Canada. Named after the area it was originally sighted, it is said to hunt and terrorize herds of moose and caribou.
Described as resembling a Ceratosaurs or Cryolophosaurus, it is up to 40 feet long and estimated to weigh as much as 20 tons. The beast is solid black or dark brown in color with boar-like bristly hair, a powerful mouth filled with sharp teeth and a single horn protruding from its snout. Its roar was reported to be loud enough to be heard for miles around. The few tracks found of this creature showed feet that were nearly five feet long with three toes each ending in claws that were over six inches long. There were also tail tracks that were over ten feet long and sixteen inches wide.
The first reported sighting was in 1903 by two hunters, James Lewis Buttler and Tom Leemore, who were tracking some moose. The herd they were stalking suddenly scattered in a sudden surge of flight from something that had obviously terrified them. When they went to investigate, they only found the large tracks of some beast. They followed the tracks and encountered Georges Dupuy, Fr. Pierre Lavagneux and a small group of Native Americans who had also been tracking the creature. They eventually were able to find and observe the beast for about ten minutes before losing it again.
Lavagneux claimed to have seen the creature again in the same area on December 24, 1907. In his second sighting, he described it as carrying the carcass of an adult caribou in its maw.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This series looks at the various North American Cryptids as if they were real, tangible beings that have managed to elude scientific observation. Many of the creatures I will be featuring have appeared in other Savage Worlds products. Oftentimes they have been altered and tweaked to fit that particular setting or to make them more interesting or challenging. My interpretation tries to stay closer to the available lore I could find on each.
I hope you enjoy this series and like my interpretations of these wonderfully imaginative creatures!
